The rear end is just loose in there and the guy said a jackstand slipped and crushed the muffler. I'm just glad to have the headers and some pipe to start working with.

I will be parting out all the rest of the parts. The axles will be up for sale soon. The front is regeared to 456 but the rear is stock gearing. Apparently he blew the matching rear and just put this one in to make it a roller.

Did a little work yesterday and today on the jeep.

Pulled the motor and separated the tranny from the block to put the auto in place of the manual.  Here it is on the bench in pieces:

Next, Justin cut the old motor mounts off the frame:

Then we dragged it into service bay A and got it ready:

Wrasseled that heavy ass motor into place.  We couldn't lift it over the stinger so had to place it from the side.  What a PITA:

Here is a couple of shots from the side.  The first is flat bellied, the way it should be:

This one shows how it probably will be:

That bracket hangs 8 inches below the frame but drive shaft angles are going to be tough.

The photographer was dressed in OSHA approved flip flops.  Does that count?

It is a jeep frame that has been stretched with BTF bits.

The brackets -- both removed and being used (currently) -- were added by the PO.

It is amazing to me that the t-case/tranny mounts are lined up so well for this setup considering it had a cummings in it before.  Same tranny and t-case being used again.

That diesel must have weighed a F'n ton because even with the SBC in place the front spring pak does not sag even a little.  We thought the shocks mught be seized  so Justin took one off and it was fine.  Stiff and tall springs! Both sets are going to get re-done before the body goes on.

Mine slowed down for a while, too. I just bought a newer set of 39.5x13.4x15 Irocs from a buddy to put on the jeep and keep the TSLs for back ups. I also got in 2 sticks of DOM,1 is 1.5"x1/4" wall 24' and the other is 1.75"x1/4"wall x21' to build my links longer and have some to build for the Commando when it gets it's turn at attention.
I've been working on some of my other vehicles and hope to be back on the YJ project next week.
